2024 Rolling Player Value Rankings:
To help me keep track of Player Value during the regular season, I have applied the run-value weight of events to a publicly available Yahoo Fantasy Baseball league. This won't be an exact calculation, but it will give us a general idea of who the Player Value leaders are. Also note that Fielding Value isn't accommodated.

Hypotheticals
- What if Ty Cobb played 162 games per season?

- What if Japan's greatest players played in MLB their entire careers?
- Would Ichiro Suzuki be the all-time hit king? Would Hideki Matsui reached 500 home runs? Would Sadaharu Oh be the all-time home run king?
Ideas
- Player Value Metric
- My new metric that serves as simplified and more transparent version of WAR. Uses a player's statistics to determine their overall value. Weights a player's actionable events based on their run-value and compares players to their position's first quartile.
- Player Value Addendum
- An important update to my Player Value metric, notably to how the Run Driving In value and Run Moving values are treated.
- Hall of Fame Metric
- A metric that I am no longer implementing, in favor of Player Value and my Hall of Fame predictive model. It arbitrarily weighted various awards and career statistics and combined them into a lump sum to determine if a player should be in the Hall of Fame. Many other people already do this type of thing, such as Julian Schultz. Other commendable player rankings that are more based on WAR include those from Exploring Baseball History, Baseball Egg, and the Hall of Stats. My current goal is not to rank players based on awards or some alteration of WAR, but rather to develop a new metric for evaluating players altogether; hence, Player Value
- Proposed New MLB Schedule Format
- My proposal for updating MLB's schedule to be more uniform for all teams. Originally published in 2018. MLB updated its schedule to be closer to this proposal during the 2022 lockout negotiations, with changes going into effect in the 2023 season.
